In March 2016, i-potentials successfully recruited the Managing Director Germany for Doctolib in an executive search process. Simon Krüger – who is now the CEO of the German entity of Doctolib – has set out to make the French startup a success on the German market. Before joining Doctolib, Krüger was the Sales Director at Fab DBY and founded the Virtual Reality Startup Vade VR.
In France, it took Doctolib just two years to build a network of over 11.000 doctors and become the leading European booking platform for medical services with over 200 employees.
„We had no doubt that our business model would be a success and wanted to scale up quickly to become the number one in Europe in this sector.“ Says founder Stanislas Niox-Chateau. „Entering the German market right after the French one was the next logical step as Germany is one of the most important European markets. With Simon Krüger as Managing Director Germany we not only got the necessary sales skills on board but also an entrepreneur at heart who knows how to build our business here from scratch.“
In the end, Simon Krüger stood out from the 300 candidates that i-potentials found and screened during the executive search process. The mandate for the search of Doctolib’s Managing Director Germany was awarded to i-potentials in January 2016 and the position subsequently filled within 3 months.
Simon Krüger: “I always had a special interest in the healthcare industry and at Doctolib I was able to combine this interest with my entrepreneurial background. Establishing Doctolib in Germany right from the start combines the best of both worlds to me: The founding phase felt just as exciting as back when I was building my own business, and – at the same time – I was backed by an already highly successful business model.“
„In Simon Krüger we found the perfect candidate for Doctolib's expansion into Germany. On the one hand, a background in the German digital industry is vital, but also experience as a founder and CEO in the German-speaking countries. Finding the right talent for the internationalization of a company is usually very difficult for businesses from abroad. Whereas we can rely on our extensive network and our experience from many years in executive search for digital businesses.“ says Martina Weiner, CEO at i-potentials.
Founded in 2013, Doctolib is an online and mobile booking platform and management software provider for medical practitioners in France and Germany. Doctolib helps patients book doctor or dentist appointments 24/7 online and offers doctors a full-range service to improve booking management.
Within two years, Doctolib has become the fastest growing healthcare startup in Europe with 260 employees and 5.2 million patients using the platform per month. Doctolib raised €23m from top investors such as Accel Partners, PriceMinister (sold to Rakuten Group) and LaFourchette (sold to TripAdvisor) founders.
